One of the most important things are going to need to do is keep your unit clean from debris. There are four tips to keeping your Xbox in good shape. If you can do this once a month you should be well on your way to having your Xbox last a long time.

First, disconnect everything except the main power source used to open the disc tray. All openings, ports and sockets will be cleaned as well to maintain optimal performance levels. Basically, you want to unplug everything except the plug that goes into the electrical socket.

First, get yourself a soft towel. You want to start to wipe off the dust from the exterior of the box. You can also use canned compressed air. Using air will help prevent any more dust from getting into the Xbox. Wipe the vents, around the hard drive, and gently clean up the power sockets and memory card slots.

Next, remove any grime or build up from the interior part of your Xbox. Wipe out the disc tray, and blow out any other particles or dust that you may see inside of the console. The buildup and dust is what causes fatigue to build up in the system. Too much heat is a prime reason for the ring of death.

It’s very important that you don’t let things fall into this is when you’re cleaning it. This can cause more damage than help. Just keep an eye and be aware as you work around the Xbox.

If your game discs have any scratches, use the soft cloth and scratch solution provided in the Xbox 360 Care Kit or a soft cloth & hydrogen peroxide to work at eliminating any disc scratches. Used games with scratches will cause damage to your Xbox 360 console over time.

Finally, make sure you’re being gentle and while cleaning the system you don’t do the extra damage to it. Don’t go overboard and be harsh on the system. You may break connections. If you do see something that is odd or you are not sure about it, take the unit to a professional repair person.

Teenagers seem to be the biggest group of consumers for the Nintendo Wii games. That is why so many of the them are distinctly marketed for them. As a parent it can be difficult to decide which ones they should be playing. They may like some that are rated E for everyone but chances are they will want more action.

Parents, taking the time to talk to teens about the games so that you can get a good indication of what the options are is needed.
